History of West Meadows

The land was originally part of the old Wanaka Station which was a vast land holding stretching from the shores of Lake Wanaka to Cromwell. Percy Sargood farmed this iconic property in the early 1900’s and was famous for his aqua ducts and water races - the remnants of these can still be witnessed in the area today.

This part of Wanaka Station was historically known as "West Meadows" and was purchased by Willowridge from a direct descendant of Percy Sargood. In conjunction with the family, it was decided that it would be very appropriate for the subdivision to retain the West Meadows name and hence the important connection with Wanaka’s early history remains.

Construction Progress

Construction for Stage 1 which consists of 39 sections is now complete and titles are out, and the residents living in their new homes there are enjoying all the benefits that West Meadows offers. The next stage that has been completed is Stage 2 which has five rural residential sections with sizes over one acre (4000sm )These are the ideal sections for those wanting extra space but still be close to the Wanaka township. Stage 3 consists of an 60 sections with earthworks and infastuctural services completed, landscaping, sealed streets and and cobblestone footpaths in place. This 3rd stage includes Ruby Ridge which are some of the best sections available in Wanaka and includes feature rock walling and extensive landscaping. Ruby Ridge has been completed to the highest standard and enjoys commanding views down Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountain ranges.
